Terms and Conditions
Fiona Corbett Last updated: 4/08/2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the booking, purchase and attendance of Continuing Professional Development ("CPD") courses and events provided by Fiona Corbett, a sole trader registered in England and Wales. If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at Fionacorbett@btinternet.com
By booking a place on any of our courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. About Our Courses
1.1 Our CPD courses are designed for qualified and trainee therapists, psychotherapists, counsellors and allied practitioners for continuing professional development purposes.
1.2 Course content, format (in-person, online/live, or pre-recorded), dates, times, trainers and pricing are as described on our website or in our booking confirmation at the time of booking. We reserve the right to make reasonable changes to course content or trainers where necessary, provided the overall quality and CPD value of the course is not materially reduced.
1.3 Completion of a course does not constitute clinical supervision, therapy, or a qualification, and does not by itself confer any accreditation, licence or professional membership. It is your responsibility to check with your professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, BABCP, EMDR Association, HCPC) that the course meets their specific CPD requirements.
2. Booking and Payment
2.1 A booking is confirmed once you have completed the booking process on our website and we have received payment in full (or a deposit, where instalment options are offered).
2.2 Prices are shown in GBP (£) and are inclusive of VAT.
2.3 Payment is taken via BACS
2.5 Early-bird or discount pricing applies only within the stated period and cannot be applied retrospectively.
3. Cancellations and Refunds
3.1 Your Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations)
If you are booking as a consumer (rather than through your employer or organisation) and the course is booked online, you generally have a 14-day "cooling-off" period under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, during which you may cancel for a full refund.
Please note: if the course start date falls within this 14-day period and you wish to attend, you are agreeing that we begin providing the service before the cooling-off period ends. In this case:
-
If you cancel before the course has started, you will receive a full refund.
3.2 Cancellations by You Outside the Cooling-Off Period
-
More than 28 days before the course start date: full refund, less a £10 administration fee, or a free transfer to a future course date.
-
14–28 days before the course start date: 50% refund, or a free transfer to a future course date (subject to availability).
-
Less than 14 days before the course start date: no refund, but we will allow one free transfer to a future date of the same course, subject to availability, or you may nominate a substitute colleague to attend in your place at no extra charge.
-
Non-attendance ("no-show") without prior notice: no refund and no transfer will be offered.
3.3 Cancellations or Changes by Us
3.3.1 We reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient bookings, trainer illness, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. If we cancel a course, you will be offered, at your choice: (a) a full refund, or (b) a transfer to an alternative date.
3.3.2 We are not responsible for any incidental costs you incur (e.g. travel, accommodation, cover for clinical work) as a result of a course cancellation or postponement, and we recommend you consider this when making arrangements.
3.4 How Refunds Are Processed
Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method within 14 days of approval.
4. Online / Live Virtual Classes
4.1 Where a course is delivered online (live), you are responsible for ensuring you have a suitable device, stable internet connection, and any required software (e.g. Zoom) installed in advance. We are not liable for disruption to your experience caused by technical issues on your end.
4.2 Joining instructions and access links will be sent to the email address provided at booking. Links are personal to you and must not be shared with others.
4.3 Recording: Live sessions may be recorded for quality assurance, trainer development, or to be made available as replay/catch-up content to attendees only. By joining a live session, you consent to being recorded where your camera or microphone is active. If you do not wish to appear on camera or be heard, please keep your camera off and microphone muted, and let us know in advance if you would prefer not to be recorded at all.
4.4 You must not record, screenshot, screen-capture, download, republish, or share course content (live or pre-recorded) without our prior written consent. See clause 6 (Intellectual Property).
4.5 Where a course includes replay access to recordings, this access is granted for a limited period as stated on the course page (e.g. 30 days) for your personal CPD use only.
4.6 Live sessions may involve group discussion, breakout rooms, or case discussion. You are responsible for maintaining client confidentiality at all times and should not share identifiable client information during any session.
5. Conduct, Content Warnings and Wellbeing
5.1 Some of our courses (for example, training relating to trauma, sexual violence, or other distressing clinical material) cover sensitive or potentially triggering content. This will be flagged on the relevant course page. By booking, you confirm you have considered your own wellbeing and readiness to engage with this material, and you understand you are free to step away from a session at any time.
5.2 We expect all attendees to engage respectfully with trainers and fellow participants. We reserve the right to remove any attendee from a live session, without refund, for behaviour we reasonably consider abusive, disruptive, or in breach of these Terms.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 All course materials, including slides, handouts, case vignettes, clinical reference documents, recordings and any other resources provided ("Course Materials"), remain the intellectual property of Fiona Corbett.
6.2 We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the Course Materials for your own individual CPD and clinical practice. You may not reproduce, resell, distribute, publish, or use Course Materials for training others without our prior written permission.
6.3 Any case material, vignettes, or clinical examples provided are for teaching purposes; identifying details are fictional or anonymised/composited in line with confidentiality good practice.
7. CPD Certificates
7.1 A CPD certificate will be issued following full attendance of the course (and, where applicable, completion of any required evaluation or feedback form).
7.2 It is your responsibility to retain certificates for your own CPD records and to check the certificate meets the specific requirements of your professional/accrediting body.
7.3 Certificates will not be issued for partial attendance unless otherwise stated on the course page.
8. Data Protection and Privacy (UK GDPR)
8.1 We take your privacy seriously and process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
8.2 What we collect: name, email address, contact details, payment/billing information (processed by our payment provider — we do not store full card details), professional body/registration details where relevant, and any information you provide during a course (e.g. discussion contributions, feedback forms).
8.3 Why we use it:
-
To process your booking and payment (contractual necessity).
-
To send you joining instructions, certificates, and course-related communications (contractual necessity).
-
To send you marketing about future courses, where you have opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
-
To comply with our legal and accounting obligations (legal obligation).
-
To improve our courses based on feedback (legitimate interest).
8.4 Recordings: where live sessions are recorded (see clause 4.3), any personal data captured (voice/image, discussion contributions) is processed on the basis of consent (given by joining with camera/mic active) or our legitimate interest in quality assurance. Recordings are stored securely and retained for [6 months], after which they are deleted.
8.5 Sharing your data: we do not sell your data. We may share it with trusted third parties who help us deliver our services, such as payment processors, email/booking platforms, and video-conferencing providers, each bound by their own data protection obligations. We do not share your data with other attendees beyond what is visible during a live session (e.g. your name/camera, if shown).
8.6 International transfers: where any of our service providers store data outside the UK/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy decisions).
8.7 Retention: we retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, including statutory retention periods for financial records (typically 6 years).
8.8 Your rights: under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to processing (including marketing) at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at fionacorbett@btinternet.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8.9 For full details, please see our separate https://www.fionacorbett.com/privacy-policy
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
9.2 Our courses are provided for CPD and educational purposes only. They do not constitute clinical supervision, therapy, or professional advice specific to any individual client, and are not a substitute for appropriate supervision, training, or accreditation required by your professional body.
9.3 Subject to clause 9.1, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course.
9.4 We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of earnings, loss of opportunity, or costs incurred as a result of course cancellation, postponement, or technical issues.
10. Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in delivering a course caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, extreme weather, power or internet outages, government restrictions, or other emergencies. In such cases we will offer a transfer to a future date or, where this is not possible, a refund.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of a course, please contact us at fionacorbett@btinternet.com in the first instance so we can try to resolve the issue. We aim to respond to all complaints within 14 working days.
12. General
12.1 Changes to these Terms: we may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking will apply to that booking.
12.2 Assignment: you may not transfer your booking to another person without our agreement, except as set out in clause 3.2 regarding substitutions.
12.3 Severability: if any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
12.4 Governing law: these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
